Much like stoneware, porcelain clay bodies should not be allowed to touch in firing and should not be stilted. It is best to fire porcelain on top of special blanket prop or silica sand so they do not stick to the shelves and can freely shrink during the firing process. Lids to boxes should be fired together in the greenware firing after applying a thin layer of alumina hydrate between the two parts. Glaze items should always be dry footed.
